Tommy Dreamer Tired of listening to taunts from Zack Ryder, Tommy Dreamer vowed that if he couldn’t defeat Ryder Tuesday night, he’d leave ECW forever, a strong statement from a Superstar who joined ECW in 1993. (WATCH) With all of his heart, soul and strength, Dreamer – a former two-time ECW Champion – fought the cocky youngster from Long Island, N.Y., but ultimately lost the night his career was on the line. After a DDT from Dreamer, Ryder snuck his leg under the rope, stopping WWE Official Scott Armstrong’s three-count. Ryder was lucky to find himself in the right place at the right time. Moments later, Ryder countered Dreamer’s back suplex and pinned him, sealing the ECW Original’s fate. |

The Big Red Monster returned to ECW on Tuesday to help kick off the first night of ECW Homecoming Qualifying Matches, per Tiffany’s orders. Kane faced Zack Ryder, who was again joined at ringside by his latest love interest, Rosa Mendes. But the Diva’s presence didn’t exactly bring the Long Island, N.Y., Superstar much luck, as the powerful Kane bulldozed through his opponent, sealing his fate with a chokeslam, moving on in The ECW Homecoming. |

One day later, McIntyre joined United States Champion The Miz & Zack Ryder against Morrison, Mark Henry & Yoshi Tatsu. While the championships were on one side, determination tipped the balance as Tatsu leveled Ryder for the victory. |

WWE’s caped crusader was in an epic battle against ECW’s rising Ryder, but an attack by a mysterious masked man cut the fight short leaving the referee no choice but to stop the match giving Hurricane the win. The real story is in who was the man that interfered. |

Zack Ryder by Count-Out After being distracted by Rosa Mendes’ beauty at ringside a week before on ECW, Zack Ryder looked to redeem himself against Shelton Benjamin, but came up short when his infatuation with Rosa got him counted out. Both competitors displayed incredible athleticism in a back-and-forth match, but after they went tumbling to the outside, Ryder’s attention was drawn to Rosa, making him not notice the referee’s count and costing him the match. Once the Long Island native realized that he had missed the 10-count, he slid back in the ring looking for answers, and like the week before, his keenness with the ECW Diva caused him to be incapacitated by Benjamin’s Paydirt. |

William Regal & Zack Ryder Earlier in the evening, William Regal and Zack Ryder had a heated confrontation backstage, leading the WWE Universe to wonder if these two Superstars would be on the same page going into tonight’s main event. Despite The British Brawler demand that Ryder follow his instructions during their tag team match against ECW Champion Christian & Yoshi Tatsu, his cocky partner was not about to yield to the former ECW interim General Manager. After the two began to quarrel in the corner, Ryder refused the tag from Regal and attacked his partner, allowing Captain Charisma to dial up the Killswitch and pin the self-centered Blackpool, England-native for the victory. |
10/06/2009![]() Seizing the power as interim General Manager of ECW, William Regal quickly declared himself the new No. 1 contender to the ECW Title at the opening of ECW on Syfy. But before he could act upon his plan, he was quickly contested by Zack Ryder and ECW Champion Christian. Captain Charisma pointed out to Regal and Ryder that there are others who have done more to earn a chance at the ECW Title, including Sovereign Bank Arena’s hard-working custodian, Angelo; everyone’s favorite laughing WWE Hall of Famer, Tony Atlas; and the most-deserving, Yoshi Tatsu. The Japanese Superstar has pinned both Regal and Ryder in the last few weeks. But it wasn’t Christian’s choice as to who he’d defend his gold against next, it’s returning General Manager Tiffany’s decision. And while the Diva said she wasn’t ready to declare a new No. 1 contender, she did announce that John Cena could possibly come to ECW, depending on the outcome of his WWE Bragging Rights Iron Man Match against Randy Orton. Tiffany also announced the evening’s matches - Christian vs. Ryder ECW Champion Christian def. Zack Ryder Zack Ryder got his wish for the main event of ECW on Syfy – a rematch with ECW Champion Christian. But this non-title bout didn’t end favorably for either competitor. A ringside-seated William Regal dispatched his associates, Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov, to attack Captain Charisma during the match, giving the ECW Champion the victory by disqualification. Then, as the fallen ECW Champion was left in the ring, Ryder, who was angry that Regal’s associates cost him the match, was next to be attacked by them. |

With a huge victory in Tuesday’s 10-Man Battle Royal on ECW on Syfy, Ryder earned his chance at Christian’s ECW Championship. You know it! Zack Ryder wins a 10-Man Battle Royal Zack Ryder earned his chance at ECW gold Tuesday night, besting nine other Extreme Superstars: Tommy Dreamer, Goldust, Tyler Reks, Yoshi Tatsu, Shelton Benjamin, Ezekiel Jackson, Vladimir Kozlov, Paul Burchill and Sheamus. One by one, Ryder watched as his opponents were tossed over the top rope, oftentimes merely staying out of harm’s way. But as the final four competitors faced off, Ryder eliminated Goldust to whittle his opponents down to two. Then, Dreamer assisted Kozlov over the ropes, leading to Ryder’s chance to capitalize on the situation. The ECW Original’s back was turned and Ryder tossed Dreamer over, becoming the new No. 1 contender to the ECW Championship. With the Zack Pack in his corner, will Ryder become the next ECW Champion? When will he face Captain Charisma for the title? Yoshi Tatsu def. Zack Ryder - Before winning Tuesday’s 10-Man Battle Royal, Zack Ryder’s night wasn’t exactly an easy ride to No. 1 contendership. These two enemies weren’t able to put their differences aside for an evening when they met Tyler Reks & Yoshi Tatsu in tag team action. While Reks hails from the sunny shores of California and Tatsu is from across the Pacific and the Land of the Rising Sun, these athletes who arrived in the Land of the Extreme via ECW’s New Superstar Initiative have the same will to win. 08/04/2009![]() Zack Ryder interrupted this week’s “Abraham Washington Show,” claiming the show as his own, since they were in Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum – his home turf. “Bro, this is Long Island and everyone knows the only good thing to come out of Long Island is Zack Ryder,” he said. But Washington’s originally scheduled guest, Shelton Benjamin, emerged to defend himself against the badmouthing Ryder and Washington. Benjamin challenged Ryder to prove he’s the more entertaining Superstar, so Washington decided he’d hold an impromptu “Abraham Idol” show. Ryder showed off his singing skills with Hootie & the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You.” But as The Gold Standard belted out the same tune, Ryder attacked him from behind and said: “Now you’re singing the blues. Woo Woo Woo.” Benjamin rose to his feet and retaliated, flipping Ryder over the couch, turning “The Abraham Washington Show” into an all-out brawl. Tyler Reks In what might be the catalyst for a new East Coast-West Coast rivalry, Zack Ryder made sure to represent his native Long Island in a hard-fought match against the debuting Californian Tyler Reks. Throughout the match, Reks displayed his skillset, hitting Ryder with several jaw-jacking moves. However, the man who loves to say “Woo woo woo” was able to capitalize on a miscalculation to lead him to the winner’s circle. As the Californian jumped up to climb the second turnbuckle, Ryder kicked his leg out from under him, leaving Reks prone to a devastating Zack Attack and a Ryder victory. Although Reks was on the losing side of action, his performance was enough to ensure that he will be back to fight another day. |

The young Superstar proved he’s strong and agile in the ring, but after targeting Finlay’s eye, it seemed The Fighting Irishman was re-injured. While Finlay was down on the mat, Ryder exposed a turnbuckle. The ECW Official noticed and turned his back on the action and Finlay stole a victory, pinning Ryder while holding his tights. As Finlay walked up the ramp nursing his swollen eye, Ryder could only complain to the ECW Official who didn’t see his opponent cheat to win. |

His obnoxious attitude in abundance, the Long Island native dominated his match, and when it seemed like his opponent was all but done for, Ryder didn’t immediately go for the pin. Instead, the cocky Superstar lifted his competitor up hit him with the Zack Attack -- viciously driving the unlucky local athlete into his knee. As abrasive as he may be, Ryder showed that he is truly an in-ring warrior and has a bright future for himself in WWE. |
06/11/2009![]() In a match between two of ECW’s youngest and brightest Superstars, there was no telling what might happen Thursday night. Quickly after the match got underway, Zack Ryder smartly attempted to ground Evan Bourne and focus on the ribs that were injured at the hands of Mark Henry on ECW this week. Though, as many of his friends and foes alike could tell you, “Air” Bourne isn’t going to stay down for long and brought out all the stops to floor Ryder. After regaining control and giving a few “woo woo woo’s” to our fans, the obnoxious Long Islander seemed to have Bourne right where he wanted him, planning a high-impact maneuver off the top rope, but that decision proved to be his downfall. Feeling at home on top of the turnbuckle, Bourne sent Ryder falling hard on his back and followed up with a death-defying Shooting Star Press and the pin. Victorious just days after a vicious beating at the hands of Mark Henry, “Air” Bourne certainly sent a message to The World’s Strongest Man that he won’t go down without a fight. |
